CAROL STELTER , trumpet soloist featured in the concerts,  is a native
of Baroda and has been a member of the St. Joe Municipal Band's trumpet section for 20 years, and plays flugelhorn in the SMC Brass Band.  Her performance today answers a request. She has a Music Education Degree from Michigan State University, and runs her own Dixieland band, Carol & Kaye's Dixieland Band, which has performed as featured entertainment for the Municipal Band Concerts and during the Venetian Festival Weekend.

She has been one of the few women in the area to play big band music and jazz.  She has performed all over the Michiana area, most notably with the Nostalgics.

THE MISFITS will be become the focus for the half way entertainment
feature of the hour long concerts.  This group is a comedy chorus
directed by Joan Nozicka, consisting of 34 recreational singers and was
formed in May of 1995 with 12 singers.  Their objectives were to enjoy
music and to entertain.  This was to be done at local nursing homes to
help "cheer-up" their residents.  To accomplish this, they decided to do
musical comedy with appropriate comical costumes.  Each member designs and creates their own costume.  This year they have a patriotic theme so everyone is dressed in red, white and blue.  Now in their sixth year, they have performed over 260 programs before various groups and
organizations.  Their travels have seen them in parts of Southwestern
Michigan as well as Northern Indiana.  In 1997 they traveled to Branson, Missouri, for a performance.  Nozicka, now retired, had taught piano and organ privately for many years.  With her musical background, she is able to select and arrange the music that the group performs.  She pre-records the accompanying music that is used for each performance.

The concert will include Sousa's "Free Lance March", and a standard work for the band idiom, Gustav Holst's "First Suite in E Flat."   Carol
Stelter, of the trumpet section will come forward to perform a request
for "Memories of You."    Other marches included in the program will be
Karl King's "The Goldman Band," and "March Grandioso," by Roland Seitz

The Misfits are directed by Joan Nozicka.  And will perform :"Over
There," " Elmer's Tune," "Route 66," "Let Me Entertain You,"
"Ballerinabba Daba Honeymoon,"  and a "Patriotic Medley."

Members of the Misfits are:
Janet Bednar, Millie Carney,  Merle Jean Damon, Delores Frantz, Esther Hahn, Polly Judd, Ann Lemons, Muriel Lucker, Joanne Parrish, Lilah Roethal, Cathy Sherwood, Louis Arent, John Bednar, Sam Bigger, Betty Bohm, Bill Carney, Warren Hahn, Harry Sherwood, Peggy Platts, Nick Rose, Geri Stama, Marge Vandenberg, Mildred Brown, Nancy Campau, Nancy Davis, Darlene Freer, Imelda Knowles, Fran Ray, Leona Rose, Betty Ross, Betty Rothenberg, Allene Snyder, Marian Tober
